One of the best ways to plan your church’s call to worship is by turning to Scripture. The book of Psalms models the call to worship for us, as the psalmists often open (or interject) with calls to praise God amid trials, grief, victories, or remembering their history (Pss 27, 99, 105, 132, 135, to name a few).

The Bible includes passages that are appropriate for calls to worship (like Pss. 98:4–6; 150:1–2) and benedictions (like Num. 6:24–26; 2 Cor. 13:14). Worship leaders often turn to these passages because they don’t require adaptation.

Psalm 66:1-4 Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, "How awesome are Thy works! Because of the greatness of Thy power Thine enemies will give feigned obedience to Thee. "All the earth will worship Thee, and will sing praises to Thee; They will sing praises to Thy name." Psalm 95:1-3

Here they are in Bible order… Exodus 15:2: The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. 2 Samuel 6:22: Therefore I will play music before the Lord and I will be even more undignified than this. 1 Chronicles 16:8-13: Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
